Why Chile's copper industry will benefit from a Humala victory

The copper price has been setting new records almost daily throughout April. Most analysts attribute this to the market misjudging the strength of demand, from China, a recovering Japan and a still buoyant US. There could be another reason: the fear that a win by Ollanta Humala in the second round of the Peruvian presidential elections will raise the cost of doing business in Peru and thus delay expected Peruvian copper production from hitting the market.
